Ecclesiastes 9:15
Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.
A small city was once rescued from danger by the wisdom of a poor man living within it, yet after the deliverance no one gave him honor or even remembrance. His poverty and his lack of standing in the eyes of others did not mean he lacked wisdom or true worth. The wisdom praised here is displayed when those who are poor live honestly, use what they have to help others, and prize a clear conscience above getting wealth, for such a course shows greater wisdom than mere skill in acquiring riches. God measures a person not by earthly possessions but by moral character, counting integrity and treasure laid up for heaven as of far higher value than money or property.
