Ecclesiastes 9:16
Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.
Poor people may possess real wisdom and integrity and still be overlooked simply because they have little wealth. Their counsel is despised and their words go unheard, not for lack of worth but for lack of riches. The wise poor are precious to God, and He sets high value on what the world passes by.
Their generosity, honesty, and unselfishness reveal a wisdom greater than the grasping judgment of those who prize earthly riches. To give freely, to deal honestly, and to live unselfishly is wiser than to measure all things by acquisition and wealth.
