Ecclesiastes 9:3
This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
The verse declares that the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil and that madness is in their hearts while they live. This was learned through personal experience of a self-indulgent course. It shows what happens in the human heart especially when people are left to their own devices.
It was confessed in penitence while retracing steps toward purity and holiness after that course. Past sins were not put out of remembrance, nor was the wrong made a light thing, but the error was humbly owned. It was recorded as a lifted danger signal to dissuade others from following folly and to lead back into the true path those who had been led into evil by that influence.
