Ephesians 6:19
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
The verse is a request for prayer that utterance may be given, that the mouth may be opened boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, because proclaiming it requires words given by God and boldness given by God. Paul makes this request as an ambassador in bonds, so that he may speak as he ought to speak. The request belongs with the call to pray continually in the Spirit and to persevere in prayer for all the saints, and with the appeal to remain watchful and to stand against spiritual evil.
God gives His followers the boldness, courage, and words needed to make the gospel known when He calls them to conflict with the powers of darkness. Such conflict is not to be rashly sought, but when God calls, even the weak and hesitant receive courage and utterance beyond what they expect. He gives utterance so the gospel can be spoken boldly and its saving truth made known to people in darkness and error, both to believers and to unbelievers.
He answers this prayer by supplying words, ability, utterance, and strength to speak publicly despite weakness and fear, enabling a speaker to speak for an hour. He answers it by enabling free, bold speech before a crowded audience, so that the message moves even hardened sinners to tears.
