Esther 1:5
And when these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace; And when these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace;
The seven-day feast for all the people present in Shushan the palace, great and small, in the court of the garden of the king's palace, was an occasion of indulgence that did not honor God. The events surrounding it were carried on under the influence of much wine. Its character was worldly revelry rather than reverent celebration.
Yet God overruled the chain of events set in motion by that feast. Through what followed He brought Esther to the throne of Medo-Persia. By that exaltation He accomplished His purposes for Israel.
