Esther 1:7
And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse one from another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king. And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse one from another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king.
The verse portrays a royal banquet defined by indulgence, where royal wine was supplied in abundance and served in vessels of gold that differed one from another. The occasion brought no glory to God. Yet the developments set in motion under the influence of the wine were overruled to bring Esther to the throne of Medo-Persia and thus to fulfill God's purpose for Israel.
