Esther 2:11
And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her. And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.
Mordecai was a Jew living in Shushan the palace. He had taken Hadassah, that is Esther, his uncle's daughter, as his own daughter after her father and mother died. After she was taken into the king's house to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women, he walked every day before the court of the women's house to learn how she was doing and what would become of her. At his charge she did not reveal her people or her kindred, and she continued to obey his command just as when she was brought up by him.
When her turn came to go in to the king, she required nothing except what Hegai the king's chamberlain appointed, and she obtained favor in the sight of all who looked on her. The king loved her above all the women and showed her grace and favor more than all the virgins, so he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. He then made a feast for his princes and servants in her honor, granted a release to the provinces, and gave gifts.
