Esther 2:13
Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house. Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.
It was the custom that every maiden going in to the king was granted whatever she desired to take with her in passing from the house of the women to the king's house. Each candidate was thus free to choose her own adornments and accompaniments for that presentation. When Esther's turn came she set aside that privilege and required nothing except what Hegai appointed. Hegai was the king's chamberlain and the keeper of the women. Her course was rewarded, for she obtained favor in the sight of all who looked upon her.
