Esther 4:8
Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.
Esther 4:8 belongs to the account of Haman's attempt under Ahasuerus in Medo-Persia to destroy all of God's people. The threat was aimed at the people through whom the promised Man-child would come. God frustrated Haman's purpose to destroy them.
Mordecai sent Esther a copy of the decree to destroy the Jews to show her the danger facing her people. That decree had been issued at Shushan. He charged her to go in to the king to plead with him and make supplication and request on behalf of her people, to approach him and ask him to spare the Jews and show them mercy. Approaching the king involved the risk of entering his presence uninvited. Her appeal to the king was the means of seeking deliverance for her people, and the account is connected with Mordecai's prayer, Haman's execution, and Israel's freedom.
