Haman Boasting to Zeresh and His Friendsby CBPepper
5:10Esther 5:10
Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
Esther 5:10 belongs to Haman's plot in the reign of Ahasuerus under Medo-Persian rule to destroy all of God's people. That plot was Satan perverting the Medo-Persian government, the second head of the Satanic beast system of church-state government, to his own ends against the truth. Through Haman Satan sought to destroy God's people as the woman through whom the promised Man-child would come.
In the verse Haman restrains his anger toward Mordecai for the moment, goes home, and sends for and gathers his friends and Zeresh his wife. There he recounts his wealth, his many children, his promotion above the king's officials, and his special invitations to dine with the king and queen. Yet he says these honors and royal favor bring him no satisfaction while Mordecai remains at the king's gate and honored, so jealousy eclipses all his advantages.
In response his wife and friends urge him to have Mordecai hanged. His summoning of them is part of his continuing plot against God's people. God frustrated Haman's continuing plot and Satan's purpose and delivered His people.
