Haman Angry Before Zeresh and His Friendsby CBPepper

Esther 5:12

Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.

Haman boasted that Esther the queen had let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but himself, and that on the morrow he was invited unto her also with the king. That exclusive invitation was a mark of the special access, honor, distinction, favor and privileges he enjoyed.

That special favor did not make him happy or satisfy him. His envy and jealousy over Mordecai, who sat at the king's gate and refused to honor him, eclipsed and outweighed all his wealth, family, promotion, honors and favor. His pride made that grievance spoil his pleasure in everything he had, so that he could not enjoy his wealth and honors while Mordecai sat at the king's gate. He sought relief from that envy by plotting the destruction of an innocent man.

The boast belongs to Haman's effort under Ahasuerus in Medo-Persia to destroy all of God's people, an effort God frustrated. In prophecy, Medo-Persia under Ahasuerus was the second head of the Satan-controlled beast system of government, and Satan attempted through it to destroy the woman through whom the Man-child should come.
