Haman Leads Mordecai on the King's Horseby emmanuel_higgins

Esther 6:7

And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,

The verse belongs to the Medo-Persian period under Ahasuerus, when Satan worked through Haman to destroy all of God's people through whom the promised Man-child would come, but God frustrated that purpose. The surrounding account involves a royal book of remembrance, showing that human rulers kept records of remembered deeds. After Mordecai and Esther fasted and prayed, God sent an angel to trouble the king so he could not sleep, had the records read, and learned of Mordecai's faithful service in saving the king's life.

Haman supposed the king meant to honor him, so while plotting Mordecai's ruin he named a high honor and thereby became the means of promoting Mordecai to great honor instead, with his plan turned against him. The honor Haman prescribed was that the royal apparel worn by the king and the horse ridden by the king and the royal crown be brought and given to one of the king's most noble princes, who would clothe the man and bring him on horseback through the street of the city proclaiming that so shall be done to the man the king delights to honor. The king ordered Haman to make haste and do even so to Mordecai the Jew at the king's gate, letting nothing fail, so with no escape because he had fixed the matter himself Haman himself arrayed Mordecai and brought him on horseback through the city proclaiming the honor before him.

This shows God working for His people and answering the faith of the believing ones, with providence preparing the way to protect Mordecai and Esther's people, leading through Mordecai's honor to the ultimate rescue of his people. This displays God's retributive justice against Haman, which though slow is exact and certain in every case if not in this world then in the world to come. Joined to God's warning and Mordecai's faith, this shows that every Christian in every place has a mission for God, and that God never forgets His people but His love, care and providence are ever the same.
