Mordecai Writing Letters at His Deskby CBPepper

Esther 9:20

And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both nigh and far,

Mordecai's written record begins here, committed to letters sent to all the Jews in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, both nigh and far. It belongs to the account of Haman's plot and the king's decree in the reign of Ahasuerus to destroy all the Jews. The Jews so threatened were the godly line preserved by God, the people of God through whom the promised Man-child was to come. In that attack Satan was working through Haman in the Medo-Persian phase of the abnormal satanic church-and-state system, when the beast was Medo-Persian, but God frustrated his purpose.

Deliverance came by a counter decree, brought about through the efforts of Mordecai and Esther and the prayers of the people, which saved the Jews from destruction, defeated Haman, and brought the complete overthrow of their enemies in triumphant vindication. That deliverance was followed by great joy. Mordecai's letters give the origin of the feast of Purim, whose name comes from Pur meaning lot, referring to the casting of lots.

God's deliverance of His people from that effort to destroy them illustrates His promised care for His people when they face a demand to worship according to human commands.
