Exodus 22:15

But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

Exodus 22:15 belongs to the instruction given to Moses on the mount in Exodus 19-24, written in a book as statutes and judgments. The one who gave it on Mount Sinai is Christ Jesus. He is the Teacher who has spoken in human flesh.

The laws it belongs to guard against doing injustice and guide how people deal with one another. They show God's care for His people, including the poor, and the impartiality and high standard of His requirements. They are to be obeyed, and to be obeyed strictly.

They are to be studied and presented before the people, and are needed now just as truly as they were needed by the children of Israel in the days of Moses.
