Exodus 22:29

Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

Exodus 22:29 belongs to the instruction given to Moses on the mount in Exodus 19-24, and stands specifically among the statutes and judgments in Exodus 21-23 that were written in a book. That instruction was given by Jesus Christ Himself, the same Teacher who gave the directions on Mount Sinai. It was given as part of laws written to guard against doing injustice and to guide dealings with one another. It guards the interests of God's people with impartial ways and exalted requirements, including special directions concerning the poor.

Its code of statutes does not testify of a Christless dispensation, and is not of a lower order than the statutes given in this age. It was to be strictly obeyed. It is to be studied and presented before the people, because it is needed now just as verily as it was needed by the children of Israel in the days of Moses.
