Priest in the Holy Place of the SanctuaryBible World

Exodus 25:25

And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand breadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about.

This direction was given by Christ to Moses as one of the specifications for building the tabernacle, providing the instructions for the table of showbread. It calls for a raised border a handbreadth wide to be made around the table, finished round about with a golden crown or molding. The table itself was overlaid with pure gold, and in the light of the golden candlestick it glittered like burnished gold, adding to the magnificence of the sanctuary. It stood in the holy place on the north side, where the priests placed twelve loaves upon it each Sabbath.

The same table with its border and crown stands in the first apartment, or holy place, of the heavenly sanctuary, together with the candlestick with seven lamps, the altar of incense, and the censer. All the furniture in that apartment looks like purest gold and reflects the image of whoever enters it. The heavenly sanctuary also shows a beautiful crown-like border around the top of the ark containing the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, showing that the earthly furnishings serve as a pattern for understanding the heavenly sanctuary.

Paul repeated this direction chapter after chapter along with the other tabernacle directions to his fellow workers while working quickly and skillfully with his hands making tents. He did so to stay in touch with the great Teacher, to give spiritual instruction and educate believers in unity, and to exemplify diligence and thoroughness in business as preaching the gospel with the hands. The verse teaches that supreme honor is to be given to God, and that the skill, genius, and wisdom used in building the tabernacle were given by God to be used for His glory.
