The Holy Place of the Sanctuary with Lampstand and TableBible World

Exodus 25:39

Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels.

The instruction was part of the specifications given by Christ to Moses for building the tabernacle, prescribing how the lampstand and its vessels were to be made. The lampstand with all its vessels was to be of pure gold. The amount of gold required for it with all its vessels was a talent. It was formed from one solid piece of gold.

It had seven branches or lamps, ornamented with flowers resembling lilies. In the earthly tabernacle built by Moses as God's dwelling, it stood on the south side of the holy place, with the table of showbread on the north and the golden altar of incense before the veil separating the holy from the most holy place. Its lamps burned day and night and were never all extinguished at once because the tabernacle had no windows, so they gave light to the sanctuary by day and by night and lit both apartments.

Its light reflected from the gold-covered boards or gold-plated walls, the sacred furnishings, and the richly colored curtains, making the rooms appear like the colors of a rainbow. The same seven-lamped golden candlestick with its vessels is seen in the holy place of the heavenly temple in the Holy City, entered through a door past the first veil and before the second veil leading to the Holy of Holies, together with the altar of incense and the table of showbread. Its pure gold furniture reflects the image of the one who enters.

The chapter containing the verse was repeated to fellow workers while laboring with the hands at tentmaking, preaching the gospel by voice and by intelligent labor and giving an example of diligence and thoroughness. The skill, genius, and wisdom brought into the tabernacle work were given by God to be used for His glory, and supreme honor is to be given to God.
