Exodus 26:10

And thou shalt make fifty loops on the edge of the one curtain that is outmost in the coupling, and fifty loops in the edge of the curtain which coupleth the second.

The fifty loops belonged to the directions for the tabernacle that Christ gave to Moses. They were part of the joining of the curtains of a dwelling made to be taken apart and carried with Israel on all their journeyings, and yet it was a structure of extraordinary magnificence. Its walls were upright boards heavily plated with purest gold, and it contained two apartments, with a rich and beautiful curtain or veil between them and a similar veil closing the entrance of the first apartment.

The veils and the curtain forming the ceiling, joined together by the loops, were of varied colors in most beautiful arrangement, and cherubim were inwrought into them with threads of gold and silver. Those cherubim represented the angelic host connected with the work of the heavenly sanctuary, who are ministering angels to the saints upon the earth. The skill and genius and wisdom exercised in carrying out these directions were given by God to be used for His glory. Paul repeated these instructions while at work, so that he and his fellow workers might learn from them.
