Exodus 26:11

And thou shalt make fifty taches of brass, and put the taches into the loops, and couple the tent together, that it may be one.

The fifty clasps of brass joined by loops belong to the directions for a tent-sanctuary designed to be dismantled and transported with Israel from place to place on the journey. That traveling sanctuary was a splendid edifice, framed with boards overlaid with gold and hung with curtains and veils of rich colors. Cherubim were skillfully woven into its textile work as part of its magnificence. Beyond this general grandeur of the portable structure, no distinct meaning is assigned to the brass clasps themselves.
