Exodus 26:13

And a cubit on the one side, and a cubit on the other side of that which remaineth in the length of the curtains of the tent, it shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it.

Exodus 26 gives God's detailed instructions for building the tabernacle, with this verse specifying how the remaining length of the tent curtains was to hang over each side to cover the structure. It describes a building that was both portable and magnificent, carried with Israel throughout all their journeyings. Its walls were upright boards heavily plated with the purest gold. Inside, the sacred building contained two apartments separated by a rich and beautiful curtain or veil, while a similar veil closed the entrance to the first apartment.

Those veils, together with the curtain forming the ceiling of the tabernacle, were made of varied colors in most beautiful arrangement, with cherubim worked in with threads of gold and silver. The inwrought cherubim represented the angelic host connected with the work of the heavenly sanctuary as ministering angels to the saints on earth. The skill and wisdom employed in such construction were gifts from God, to be used for His glory.
