Exodus 26:19

And thou shalt make forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another board for his two tenons.

Exodus 26:19 belongs to the specifications God gave Moses for building the tabernacle and its sacred apartments. It requires forty sockets of silver to be made under the twenty boards, with two sockets placed beneath one board for its two tenons and two sockets beneath another board for its two tenons. The boards so supported stood upright and, plated with gold, formed the walls of the sanctuary. Those sacred apartments held gold and curtains and sacred furnishings, all lit by the candlestick.

The gold-plated walls of boards set in silver sockets were part of a magnificent portable sanctuary constructed to be moved from place to place as Israel journeyed through the wilderness. The skill and wisdom and ability employed in carrying out these building instructions were given by God and were to be used for His glory.
