Exodus 26:23

And two boards shalt thou make for the corners of the tabernacle in the two sides.

Exodus 26:23 belongs to God's detailed specifications for the portable wilderness tabernacle built as His dwelling place among Israel. It directs that two boards be made for the corners on the two sides, forming part of side walls made of upright boards. Those walls consisted of upright boards heavily plated with purest gold. That gold plating reflected the light of the lamps and the colors of the curtains.

The upright boards were set in silver sockets. The tabernacle was so constructed that it could be taken apart and borne with Israel in all their journeyings and moved from place to place, yet it was a structure of extraordinary magnificence. The sacred building formed by these walls contained two apartments separated by a rich and beautiful curtain or veil, with a similar veil closing the entrance of the first apartment.

These veils, with the curtain forming the ceiling, were of varied colors most beautifully arranged. Cherubim were inwrought in them with threads of gold and silver to represent the angelic host connected with the work of the heavenly sanctuary as ministering angels to the saints upon the earth. The skill, wisdom, and ability used to carry out these building instructions were gifts from God, to be used for His glory.
