Exodus 26:25
And they shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board. And they shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.
The eight boards with their sixteen sockets, two under each board, were the upright boards that formed the walls of the tabernacle. They were heavily plated with purest gold. They stood set in sockets of silver. Together they enclosed a sacred building divided into two apartments.
That walled tabernacle was made to be taken apart and borne with the Israelites in all their journeyings, moved from place to place as they journeyed through the wilderness. Yet for all its portability it was a structure of extraordinary magnificence.
