Exodus 26:36

And thou shalt make an hanging for the door of the tent, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework.

Exodus 26:36 belongs to the instructions given for building the tabernacle. The work of building called for skill and wisdom and care. That skill and wisdom and care were given by God and were to be used for His glory.

The hanging prescribed closed the entrance to the first apartment of the tabernacle. That tabernacle had two apartments, with walls of upright boards heavily plated with purest gold. Although extraordinarily magnificent, it could be taken apart and carried with Israel on all their journeyings. The entrance hanging was similar to the rich and beautiful veil that separated the two apartments, and together with that veil and the curtain forming the ceiling it displayed a variety of colors in most beautiful arrangement, inwrought with threads of gold and silver into cherubim. Those cherubim represent the angelic host connected with the work of the heavenly sanctuary, who are ministering angels to the saints on earth.
