Exodus 26:9

And thou shalt couple five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves, and shalt double the sixth curtain in the forefront of the tabernacle.

The instruction belongs to the plan for a portable tabernacle of extraordinary magnificence. Five curtains were to be coupled together by themselves as one set, and six curtains by themselves as another set, with the sixth curtain doubled over at the front of the tabernacle. These curtains formed part of the richly colored ceiling of the structure. Their embroidered cherubim represented the angelic host connected with the heavenly sanctuary and ministering to the people on earth. The skill and wisdom exercised in this work were gifts from God, to be devoted to His glory.
