And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded;
The call goes out to every person with a willing, wise, and skillful heart to come and make all that the Lord commanded for the tabernacle. That making demands exactness, skill, wisdom, and perfection in every kind of work in God's service, carried out according to the pattern God gave to Moses. In answer the people were invited to contribute willingly and take part, freely giving their possessions and materials and their labor to build and furnish God's house. They worked cheerfully, putting the building of God's house before the enlarging of their own tents. Their gifts and labor became so abundant that when there was enough, Moses had to tell them to stop bringing offerings.
The work and its support were to come through willing gifts, not by compulsion or by entertainment-based fundraising. Apart from tithes and regular systematic required returns, God makes special calls for freewill offerings for particular objects, such as building the tabernacle in the wilderness and erecting the temple at Jerusalem. Those special calls come to all in proportion to what each possesses, so those entrusted with larger capital are to return a more valuable gift. Such calls are made for the givers' own good as well as to sustain God's service. Everyone may share in the blessing of serving.
