Exodus 35:11

The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets,

The verse lists the parts of the tabernacle to be provided and built according to God's design, its tent and its covering, its fittings, its boards and bars, its pillars and sockets. It names what was to be made for the sanctuary in the wilderness after Israel left Egypt, even though the people had limited means. The detail shows that exactness, skill, wisdom, and perfection were required in the work of His sanctuary, and the same care is required in every kind of service for Him.

That wilderness tabernacle was provided by special free-will offerings over and above systematic and regular donations. The people gave freely and abundantly and willingly, contributing materials and labor because they were eager to share in building God's house and all wanted a part in the blessing. They brought more than was needed or could be used, until Moses told them to stop bringing offerings and the leaders could say it is enough and bring no more.

Gold and silver and all that is possessed, even souls and bodies, belong to Him, and He could create an abundance of means without asking for sacrifice, but He never works that way. He makes these calls upon the people for their own good as well as to sustain His service, and calls all to make free-will offerings. There is a blessing for every soul who has a share by returning to the Lord what is His own, and that same giving supplies the means to purchase property for a school where youth are educated to go forth as missionaries.
