Exodus 36:26

And their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.

Exodus 36:26 belongs to the record of the actual building of the tabernacle, giving the detail that its upright boards rested upon forty sockets made of silver. The arrangement was precise, with two separate sockets placed under one board and two likewise under another board, repeated until the full number was reached. That counting of sockets and boards is part of a larger building account where nothing was left indefinite but each part had its appointed place and support.

The care over sockets and boards shows that the work of erecting the tabernacle demanded exactness and practiced skill in carrying out what had been shown to Moses as the pattern. The builders were not to improvise or lower the standard, but to reproduce the heavenly model faithfully in material form down to the foundations under the walls. That requirement of perfection in the tabernacle sets the measure for all work performed in God's service, calling for the same thoroughness, accuracy, and excellence in every task.
