Exodus 37:6
And he made the mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half was the length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof. And he made the mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half was the length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
The mercy seat was one of the vessels of solid gold belonging to the tabernacle. God Himself instructed Moses how to make it. It belonged to the sanctuary adorned with embroidery and skillful work, wrought with great ingenuity in silver and gold by women and made by skillful men provided for the work. The divine instruction to Moses for making it parallels the divine instruction to Noah for making the ark for the saving of himself and his family.
