The candlestick was set inside the tent of meeting opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle, as part of a deliberate and ordered arrangement. That precise ordering was intended to impress Israel with the majesty and holiness of God and with the purity He requires from those who serve Him. The order and harmony of the tabernacle arrangement were also intended to display to the surrounding nations something of God’s character and of what He desires His people to become.
