Exodus 5:20

And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:

Moses and Aaron stood waiting in the way, and the Hebrew officers met them there as they came out from Pharaoh. The meeting came after the officers had complained to Pharaoh about the harsher labor demands, and their appeal had been rejected. The same full daily number of bricks was still required of them though no straw was given, and for failing they had been beaten by the Egyptian taskmasters. They had been mocked by Pharaoh and called idle, and they saw that they were in an evil and hopeless case.

They blamed Moses and Aaron for all their suffering, charging that they had made Israel hated by Pharaoh and his servants and had put a sword in their hands to kill them. In doing so they called on the LORD to judge Moses and Aaron. Being charged with all their suffering greatly distressed Moses and brought him almost to complaining and murmuring because God delayed deliverance.

Their blaming showed that Israel was not yet prepared to be delivered, having little faith and being unwilling to patiently suffer and perseveringly endure affliction until God worked a glorious deliverance for them.
