Moses and Aaron Hear God's Promise in Goshenby emmanuel_higgins

Exodus 6:8

And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.

The verse is a pledge to bring Israel into the land sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob and to give it to them as an inheritance, faithfully fulfilling the covenant made to the patriarchs. That inheritance promise was spoken through Moses together with deliverance from Egyptian burdens and bondage, redemption with great judgments, and being taken as God's people. It belongs to a larger pledge to bring Israel out of Egyptian bondage and long servitude by divine power into the promised land.

The promised bringing out and bringing in rests on and displays the LORD's power and faithfulness. That deliverance by His power would show that He is the living and all-powerful God while punishing Egypt's idolatry. Its purpose was to bring Israel out of Egypt into a new country where they would leave and turn from idolatry and serve and worship God.

When Moses spoke this inheritance promise together with the other promises of deliverance, the children of Israel did not listen because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage. Their refusal discouraged Moses so that he questioned how Pharaoh would listen to him.
