Ezekiel 1:12
And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.
The living creatures went every one straight forward, whither the spirit was to go they went, and they turned not when they went. The wheels within wheels and the complex machinery of the vision look like confusion to the finite eye. Amid the wheels a hand of infinite wisdom is revealed that brings perfect order out of the confusion, so that every wheel and part works in its right place in perfect harmony with every other part. God's work moves according to the Spirit's direction, with God's wisdom and hand directing and controlling the wheels.
God, and not human leaders, is the one who directs the work. Heaven is closely connected with events on earth, and God's care and rule extend over coming events, over nations, and over His church. The verse holds a deep and important lesson for every one of God's workmen, to be studied with humility and earnest prayer.
