Ezekiel 10:18

Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.

In Ezekiel 10 God's hand is at work to bring perfect order and harmonious cooperation into the operations of His appointed instruments. The glory of the Lord departed from off the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubims, leaving the temple. Even after the glory left, the temple could still retain the outward appearance it had when glorified by the Shekinah, though God was no longer present there.

The departure means the Shekinah glory left the Jewish temple forever and would never again be witnessed there. That same holy light that once filled the temple and had radiated from the face of Moses was later seen on the face of Stephen as he stood before the council. Those who exalted Moses trembled or veiled their faces before that light on Stephen, yet clung to stubborn unbelief and prejudice against it.
