Ezekiel 10:19
And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
In this vision God is bringing perfect order and harmonious cooperation to the workings of his appointed agencies. The glory of the God of Israel is departing from the temple, leaving it without the holy presence that had marked it. The glory moved out with the cherubim to the east gate of the Lord's house and paused there, and the wheels went out beside the cherubim.
The temple could still look as splendid as when the shekinah glorified it, but its outward beauty and splendor did not mean that God's presence and glory remained. Even after God was no longer present there, worshipers from many nations still came to the temple. The sacred radiance belonging to God's presence was later recalled by the light on Stephen's face. The temple itself would never again witness that glory.
