Ezekiel 11:24
Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me. Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.
The Spirit took Ezekiel up and brought him in vision by the Spirit of God from Jerusalem to the Jewish exiles in Chaldea in Babylonia. The vision then went up from him and ended, marking the close of this vision. In that setting among the captives he carried on his prophetic work as God's mouthpiece. His visions of living creatures and wheels showed God's providence over the nations and that God was ruling. The account is worded so vividly that it leaves open whether the distant place was shown to him in vision or he was physically transported there, the same in-the-body or out-of-the-body question as Paul's vision. The experience belongs with Ezekiel's other takings by the Spirit, and stands apart from a bodily catching away like Philip's and from a permanent bodily translation like Elijah's.
