Ezekiel 14:12

The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,

The word of the Lord coming to Ezekiel introduces a warning message spoken by Jesus to the prophet. The warning declares that when a land trespasses grievously against God, He will stretch out His hand upon it in judgment. He will break the staff of bread thereof, send famine upon it, and cut off both man and beast from it.

Even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in such a land, their presence would save no other soul. They would deliver only their own souls by their own righteousness. They could not deliver even their own sons or daughters when those children through negligence of His requirements dishonor God and pursue a life of iniquity.

However much knowledge such transgressors have acquired, God will not spare them from His judgments. They will feel the wrath of their offended God. Yet a remnant of sons and daughters will be left alive and brought forth. Their way and their doings will comfort those who see them and will make known that all He brought upon Jerusalem was not without cause.
