Ezekiel 14:15
If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:
The verse pictures one of God's judgments upon a land, when harmful wild animals are caused to pass through it to ravage it until it is left desolate and untraversable because of the danger from them. It stands within the warning of Ezekiel 14:14-20 that if Noah, Daniel, and Job were present in a land under such calamity, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness and could save no one else, not even son or daughter, since one person's righteousness cannot secure another person's deliverance. The righteousness by which a person is thus delivered is the imputed righteousness of Christ.
When judgment comes, no righteous person can save another soul, and even laying down one's own life for another cannot save him. The approaching time of trouble will be such an ordeal, in which each person must stand before God individually when divine judgments fall and the presence of the righteous will not shield others. Life and death are set before each person, and each must choose for himself whom he will serve.
