Ezekiel 14:18

Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.

In the time of divine judgment, even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were present together in the condemned place, they would rescue neither sons nor daughters but would deliver only themselves. Each soul must stand before God and answer for himself, and deliverance comes only individually. That deliverance is by his own righteousness.

That righteousness by which a person is delivered is the imputed righteousness of Christ. Deliverance is strictly personal and cannot be transferred from one soul to another, so no one can rest his salvation on another's faith or righteousness. Not even by laying down his own life can one person save another. Each must himself die to self, be cleansed, and serve the Lord, for the decision is his own and it is a matter of life or death.
