Ezekiel 14:21

For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

The four sore judgments sent upon a land are the sword, the famine, the pestilence, and destructive beasts.
They fall on a rebellious people when their iniquity is full and wrath is awakened, exercising desolating power to rend and destroy and to cut off man and beast, with the inhabitants appointed to sword, famine, and pestilence.
The sword, famine, and pestilence come speedily because the angels are letting go.

This desolation was fulfilled upon the American nation in the Civil War as a present calamity for forgetting God, trampling His law, breaking the everlasting covenant, and despising His Sabbath, and that war is a most unrighteous war in which Sabbathkeepers have nothing to hope for and must not engage.

In the time of trouble the sword, famine, pestilence, and great confusion fall on the land.
At that time the wicked blame God's people for the judgments and plot to destroy them, believing that this will stop the evil.
Since God cannot be trifled with, careful walking and prayer for the covering are needed, yet there is no danger for God's people in these judgments.
