Ezekiel 14:22
Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.
The saying is spoken by the Lord Jesus to Ezekiel for the time when the land sins grievously against Him. Then He breaks the staff of bread, sends famine upon it, and cuts off man and beast from it. In that judgment, even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were dwelling there, they could deliver only their own souls by their own righteousness.
They could not deliver sons or daughters who by neglect dishonor God and pursue a course of iniquity. Yet even so a remnant of sons and daughters is left in Jerusalem and brought forth to come out to those already in exile. When the exiles see the way and the doings of those who come forth to them, they are comforted concerning the evil brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that was brought upon it, for their conduct makes known that it was not without cause.
