Ezekiel 15:1

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

The word of the LORD came to Ezekiel as God's mouthpiece among the captives in Babylonia by the river Chebar, while Jeremiah was prophesying in Jerusalem. It introduces a message about the grapevine as seen in winter stripped of leaves, the most unpromising of all fruit trees with its slender gaunt dry-looking stem and rugged bark. The vine wood it introduces is worthless for work, unfit to make anything from, not even a pin on which to hang a vessel. The worthless vine is therefore cast into the fire for fuel, with both ends devoured and the middle burned, leaving it fit for no work. The lesson of the fruitless vine given to burning will be repeated in the harvest described in Revelation 14:18, 19.
