Ezekiel 16:28
Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied. Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.
Ezekiel 16:28 presents Israel's turning away from the Lord as adultery against Him. That unfaithfulness took concrete form in entering into forbidden partnerships with pagan nations. The Assyrians stand as the named example of those unlawful alliances born of insatiable desire for foreign power. The same adulterous pattern marks Rome when she seeks and relies upon the support of earthly rulers.
