Ezekiel 16:48

As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.

As the living Lord affirms, Sodom together with her dependent communities did not act in the way Jerusalem together with hers acted. The comparison establishes Jerusalem and its people as more guilty than Sodom and its people. Sodom's iniquity consisted in pride, fullness of food, idle abundance, and failure to strengthen the poor and needy. By using Sodom as the lesser standard, those faults are presented as serious sins rather than minor failings. Jerusalem's wrongdoing is thereby placed beyond even that serious measure.
