Ezekiel 16:63

That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.

When the Lord is pacified toward his people, establishing his covenant with them and making peace by forgiving all that they have done, the promise is fulfilled in their experience. They remember their past evil ways and their evil deeds, and are confounded with shame before him. That remembrance leaves no room for boasting or self-glorification, for mercy does not lead to pride but shuts the mouth in humble silence because of shame.

For those whom God acknowledges as his own people, this remembering does not fade but deepens repentance as they advance in Christian experience. The more fully they are reconciled, the more keenly they feel their unworthiness, so growth in grace is growth in lowliness. They recognize that their sufficiency is in Christ alone.
