Ezekiel 17:10
Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew. Yea, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
Ezekiel 17:1-21 is about Zedekiah, the last king in David's line to sit on the throne of the Lord. He had been made subject to the king of Babylon and had entered into a solemn covenant before God to render him loyal allegiance. Because he broke that covenant, God pronounced judgment upon him as the removal of the diadem and the taking off of the crown and the overturning of the kingdom. The kingdom was thus left subject to Babylon, to be overturned thereafter through succeeding world empires, with no restoration on earth until He come whose right it is.
