Ezekiel 19:11
And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches. And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.
The strong rods for scepters of rule were kings themselves and their royal authority, the ruling house put forth as strong branches fit for scepters. The vine's stature exalted among the thick branches and its appearance in height with the multitude of branches meant that nation and its ruling house were lifted high in prominence and power, exalted among other nations as a flourishing vine towering above surrounding growth. Solomon's reign illustrates that exalted stature, when kings came from other lands to hear his wisdom.
The verse portrays Israel at the height of its former strength and glory. The chapter as a whole is a lament over Jerusalem's later fall, mourning the loss of that strength, beauty, and fruitfulness because of sin.
