Ezekiel 20:9
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
In Egypt Israel rebelled by refusing to abandon the idols they had been told to give up. God made Himself known to them in the sight of the surrounding nations among whom they lived, and in that open sight brought them forth out of the land of Egypt. He wrought this deliverance for His own name's sake, that His name should not be polluted and dishonored, nor profaned and reproached, before those watching heathen.
For that same honor of His name He will deliver the faithful in their final strait, who patiently wait for Him even when they appear surrounded and helpless. Their names are written in the book, and they shall be delivered.
