Ezekiel 21:11

And he hath given it to be furbished, that it may be handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.

Ezekiel 21:11 stands within the record of the transgressions that brought about Israel's dispersion. Idolatry and desecration of the Sabbath brought the people into trouble and into captivity. The furbished sword given into the hand of the slayer marks the destruction of the kingdom of Judah and a change in human dominion. After that fall three more overturnings were still to come, by Medo-Persia, by Grecia, and by Rome, and then Christ would come and the kingdom would be His.
