Ezekiel 23:45
And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
The verse belongs to an unpleasant lesson in which God describes Israel's spiritual unfaithfulness in unflattering terms. The two women are Samaria and Jerusalem, representing Israel and Judah, and in symbol a corrupt woman stands for a corrupt or apostate church or religious power. Their adultery and bloodguilt lay in forsaking their covenant with God and seeking help in Egypt, which was rebellious adultery. That forsaking included allying themselves with foreign nations and their ways. It also included departing from God's law and testimony to join idolatrous and false religious groups, and proving unfaithful to God as lovers of the world.
Righteous men shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses and women who shed blood. This was fulfilled when Babylon came against Jerusalem and the kingdom was overturned. That overturning was part of the scattering God brought upon Israel for disobedience to His commandments. The same guilt rests on professed Christian churches today that seek union with the civil power. God has furnished a plenitude of blessings in Jesus Christ, He demands all from His church, and He will not divide His glory with another. This guilt is not merely a church's use of civil laws for temporal affairs.
